If you’ve searched “pet psychic UK” and landed here, welcome. You’re in the right place as I get asked this question a LOT by pet parents wanting to explore a deeper relationship with the other species they share their life with.
Here’s the thing, the labels matter far less than you think and what’s actually happening in a session goes far deeper than either term suggests.
It’s the same thing… and it’s also not
Pet psychic. Animal communicator. Pet communicator. Intuitive animal communicator. These are all different words pointing at the same experience: a human being tuning into an animal’s energy and receiving information from them.
“Psychic” comes from the Greek word for soul or mind and in its truest sense, it simply means perceiving what isn’t visible to the ordinary senses. Clairvoyance: clear seeing. Clairsentience: clear feeling. Clairaudience: clear hearing. Claircognizance: clear knowing. These are the channels through which animal communicators receive information such as images, sensations, emotions, sounds, words, smells, tastes, a sudden knowing that arrives from nowhere.
So technically, yes, an animal communicator is working psychically so the terms overlap.
But here’s where I’d gently push back on “pet psychic” as a label and it’s important.
What this isn’t
In popular culture, “psychic” often comes loaded with a very specific image. Mystic Meg. A crystal ball. Someone telling you what’s going to happen. Predictions, prophecies, fortune telling.
Animal communication isn’t about telling you what’s going to happen to your pet or to you. That said, they sense way more than most people do and often they will offer guidance on areas to explore, be it relationships, work, therapies, whatever matters to their collective field in that moment.
But it’s not FIXED. It’s about exploring possibilties.
What they share is their experience of the world as it is right now: how they feel in their body, what they love, what troubles them, what they want you to understand about them.
And crucially, it also isn’t about telling your animal what to do. It isn’t a tool for control or quick fix behaviour modification. It’s a tool for understanding. For listening. For hearing life from their perspective.
What it actually is
The most precise description I’ve ever encountered so far comes from Anna Breytenbach, one of the world’s most respected animal communicators, who has appeared on The Telepathy Tapes and whose famous session with a black leopard named Diablo, who revealed his true name was Spirit, was the session that changed everything for me personally.
Anna describes animal communication not as a psychic reading, not as remote viewing, but as a fully conscious exchange between two beings. Not sender and receiver. Not question and answer. A merging, becoming one with the truth of that other being, so that information doesn’t get transmitted so much as it simply arrives.
Sometimes the animal asks questions back. Sometimes they give retorts. That’s how you know it’s truly live, because there are two parties in it.
That’s why I don’t naturally reach for the word “psychic” to describe what I do. Because psychic suggests one direction: information flowing from them to me. What actually happens is a conversation, a connection, a meeting of souls.
How the information comes through
Your body is an antenna. You are receiving information 24 hours a day from the people around you, from nature, from your animals. We have simply stopped noticing it.
When I connect with an animal, I’m receiving through all of these channels simultaneously:
Visuals: images, colours, shapes, scenes. Sometimes vivid, sometimes a quick flash, sometimes playing like a short film.
Sound: whispers, tones, words, music.
Smell and taste: fragrances, flavours experienced in my body come and go.
Emotions: love, joy, sadness, fear. Sometimes with a clear label, sometimes just a feeling in the body that I have to translate.
Physical sensations: tightness, warmth, pain, tingling. When an animal shows me where they’re experiencing discomfort, I feel it in my own corresponding body part.
Knowingness: a sudden clarity, a thought that arrives fully formed with a feeling of certainty that has no logical explanation.
Some channels are stronger for me than others. For example, I’m strongly clairvoyant, so imagery comes first. But all seven are available, and every communicator or psychic has their own preferred way of receiving.
The key, and this is what Anna Breytenbach articulates so beautifully, is that none of this happens through thinking. The moment you try to analyse or figure out or interpret, you’ve moved out of receiving and into your head. This is why so many people believe they can’t do this: they’re trying to think their way into a space that only opens when you stop thinking and start witnessing.

The Channel 5 effect
In 2024, Channel 5 in the UK aired The Pet Psychic, following Beth Lee-Crowther as she travelled the UK communicating with animals in person, in front of cameras and their care-givers.
I love that this show exists. I love that telepathy is becoming mainstream, that more people are seeing this work and going, “wait, is that real?”
But television is television. It’s edited, it’s dramatic, it’s designed to entertain. What you see on screen is a very particular version of this work.
What I do is similar but also a little different. I don’t need to be present with your animals and they don’t need to be on the call when we meet. I connect with their energy before our session, in stillness and witness everything as they lead what they wish to share. It’s unedited and unfiltered, including the things that may make no sense to me, the words that seem like a curveball, the images that can appear as movies, cartoons or photos.
I’ve learned not to dismiss anything. The things that seem strangest are often the ones that land most deeply.
I also weave any questions or concerns so the conversation is both ways. Both species perspectives being honoured.
I work remotely. All I need is a photograph to anchor the connection. Distance is completely irrelevant. I’ve connected with animals in Australia, Thailand, the US, across Europe, from my home in Sussex.

How to find the right person for you
Here’s the truth: you could find ten people calling themselves animal communicators and ten calling themselves pet psychics, and they’d all work differently. The label tells you almost nothing about how someone works, what they prioritise, or whether they’re the right fit for you and your animal.
What I’d suggest instead:
Follow them. In a world where everyone is visible on social media, you can get a genuine sense of who someone is, their values, their voice, their approach before you ever book a session. Follow that instinct.
Read the testimonials. Learn what others have to share about their experiences to decide if this person is the right match for you.
Ask questions. Any good communicator will welcome your questions and your scepticism. If someone is defensive or vague when you ask how they work, that tells you something.
Drop into your body. When you read their website, when you watch their videos, do you feel a pull toward them? That pull is information for you so follow it.
The labels, pet psychic, animal communicator, pet communicator, are just words. What you’re really looking for is someone who is genuinely there to speak for your animal. Someone who honours the information that comes through without editing or performing. Someone who holds the space for both you and your animal to be truly heard.
It’s not a reading, a performance or a prediction.
It’s a deep honest conversation that has the potential to deepen your understanding and relationship with the other species you love and share your life with.
Sessions are held remotely – wherever you are in the world. Your animal doesn’t need to be present. All you need to bring is an open heart and your questions.
